Speed Portfolio
One of my many interests is the pursuit of speed and the records that numerous brave people have set. It's therefore no surprise that speed records have become a significant part of my work as a freelance writer, researcher & photographer. I'm a keen member of the Speed Record Club and the Bluebird Supporters Club. I'm also registered as an Ambassador for Britain's current Land Speed Record car Bloodhound SSC. I'm the lady who cries tears of joy whenever a Bluebird goes by and has almost lost count of the number of times she has visited the Cumbrian village of Coniston. I'm the classic car enthusiast who drove a 1957 Standard 8 known as 'Henry' some 1,194 miles over 11 days to see the legendary LSR car Babs at the Museum of Speed, Pendine Sands.
You can see some of my own involvement in the speed record community in the gallery below as well as a selection from my speed record photography. I've also written various speed themed articles which can be seen in my Quick Thinking blog on the next page.
"There is joy in speed, and poetry in it, and danger too. But a rush at full speed in a motor car over a lonely road, and through a deserted country, wide and open, is an experience to be ever afterwards remembered. Truly, for such a moment, life is worth living." JJ Hissey (1906)
